Steve Walker, former Head of UK Health & Safety Executive Offshore Division

Monday 28 October 2013, 4-5pm

Hedley Bull Seminar Room 3, Hedley Bull Centre, Liversidge Street, Acton

Incidents from high hazard industries such as oil and gas tend to echo around the globe. For example, Montara, Macondo and Texas City have all had profound effects on the public and political perceptions of those industries well outside the regions they originated in. Steve Walker, who has been a regulator for UK's Health & Safety Executive for 37 years and has just stood down as Head of HSE's' Offshore Division, will reflect on how such recent incidents have affected the UK's domestic safety and legislative agendas, and how both industry and the regulators have responded.
